Power 'on a mission' to win in Edmonton

Will Power says he is heading to this weekend's IndyCar race at Edmonton "on a mission" to make up for his controversial race on the streets of Toronto two weeks ago

The Australian hit the headlines after the first race of the Canadian double header with a verbal outburst following collisions with championship rival Dario Franchitti and Alex Tagliani.

The clash with Tagliani resulted in the Penske driver's second retirement in a row, a run which has dropped him from the joint lead of the championship to sitting 55 points behind Franchitti.

"I don't get riled up that often, but trust me, I'm a man on a mission to get Team Penske another victory," Power said. "I'll be doing my best to make sure that happens in Edmonton.

"I've been training like mad over the last week and want nothing more than to put Toronto behind me with a strong finish."

Franchitti responded to Power's angry comments towards him last week, saying that he felt it was unfair of his rival to criticise the way he drives.

"To say that I'm a dirty driver was not correct," said the Scot. "I think if you asked all the drivers I have raced against in the IndyCar Series and CART before that, that's not one of the reports you'll get back on me.

"Will's had two non-finishes in a row, and I can understand that frustration. I understand where he is coming from, I just think it's misplaced."
