Penske's Will Power fastest in morning IndyCar practice in Long Beach
Will Power set the fastest time in Saturday's third IndyCar practice session in Long Beach
On a morning peppered with several red flag interruptions, Power managed to make the most of the available time under greens to post a best lap of 1m10.7553s, putting him just 0.0170 seconds clear of Andretti Autosport's Ryan Hunter-Reay.
Power's Penske team-mate Helio Castroneves was third-fastest, but also triggered one of the reds when he caught too much of the kerb on the inside of Turn 5 and was pitched into the wall.
Tony Kanaan (KV) prompted another red with an identical crash a few laps earlier, while others were brought about by various breakdowns or minor accidents involving James Hinchcliffe (Andretti), Josef Newgarden (Sarah Fisher Hartman), James Jakes (Dale Coyne) and Sebastien Bourdais (Dragon).
