Motegi To Install SAFER Barrier
The Twin Ring Motegi oval, part of a racing complex built by Honda, is installing the same updated SAFER barrier currently being installed at the famous Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
The updated version of SAFER gives a smoother impact surface, improved anchoring and is designed for collisions with both open-wheel cars and stock cars like NASCAR. The original SAFER barrier won several awards for motorsports engineering and innovation.
Andretti Green Racing's Tony Kanaan commented: "In my opinion, Twin Ring Motegi was one of the safest tracks we compete at and with the addition of the SAFER Barrier, it will be even better. I'm really happy to see the track taking this step in the interest of safety."
