Montagny tests again with AGR
Former grand prix driver Franck Montagny had his first road course test with IndyCar team Andretti-Green Racing this week at Sebring
Montagny, who has driven for AGR's American Le Mans Series squad this year, had already tested one of the team's Indy cars at Kentucky Speedway in September, but was pleased to get a second test on a style of circuit more familiar to him.
He tested alongside one of AGR's regular drivers, Tony Kanaan, and was encouraged by his performance.
"Andretti-Green wanted me to test an IRL car on a road course before but it hadn't been possible sooner in the season," said Montagny. "They asked me to come to Sebring and help them with the setup for road courses.
"This is not easy with just one day of testing, but I think I gave them some good direction to follow. It was a little bit difficult for me at the beginning, the car is made for ovals, with very little downforce, but we changed some things and it was better from midday.
"We had some good fun with Tony, there was some positive rivalry between us and we set times quite similar. I think the team was happy with this as well as with the work we've done."
Montagny is still working on his plans for next season, but is known to be keen on a full-time IndyCar drive.
