Marco welcomes Patrick signing
Marco Andretti has welcomed his Andretti Green Racing team's signing of Danica Patrick for next season
Andretti, who is currently in his first year of a three-year deal with the team, will drive alongside last year's rookie of the year Patrick and former champion Tony Kanaan in the team next seaso, following the announcement earlier this week.
Andretti, son of team boss Michael, believes Patrick will be a strong addition to the squad.
"This team is continuing to make awesome calls, and I think it's a good one," Andretti said. "It's great for the future of our team because you bring a name like that, it's only going to be better. Plus not only the name, but she's a darned good driver.
"Of course I'm happy that she's coming into the team. She's only going to contribute to the team and make it better and I definitely want to be a part of it."
The youngster also believes the team can return to their 2005-championship winning form, having only taken their first win of the season last weekend at Milwaukee.
"We're going to be very competitive, and we're not going to give up because this year we might have been a little bit behind," he added.
"But we just continued to close the gap last weekend and if we do maybe an off-season test or two and be ready to go for next year. That's definitely the goal."
It is not yet known whether a fourth car will be added to the line-up next year, and if current drivers Dario Franchitti and Bryan Herta will be retained.
