Mann gets Conquest IndyCar test
Indy Lights frontrunner Pippa Mann has announced that she will make her IndyCar testing debut with Conquest Racing at Texas Motor Speedway on 28 February
The 27-year-old Briton will complete her mandatory rookie test during the session. While she does not have a deal in place with a team yet, she is aiming to at least enter the Indianapolis 500 and hopefully contest all the oval rounds of this year's IndyCar Series calendar.
"We have been working exceptionally hard throughout the winter to put together a programme for me to run in the IndyCar Series, and while our main focus has been on the Indy 500, we would obviously like to run as many of the 2011 races as possible," Mann said.
"We are most likely now looking at a full oval programme, which will hopefully bridge the gap to a full-time drive in the series in 2012.
"The upcoming run will serve as my rookie test for the IndyCar Series, and also work as good preparation for the programme we are trying to put together.
"Eric Bachelart and Conquest Racing have been especially interested in what we are trying to achieve, and I'm extremely excited to have the opportunity to drive one of their cars."
Mann finished fifth in the Indy Lights standings last year, winning at Kentucky and making history by becoming the first female polesitter in Indianapolis Motor Speedway history when she topped qualifying for the series' Indy 500 supporting round.
