Kanaan extends AGR deal

Tony Kanaan has extended his contract with leading IRL IndyCar Series team Andretti Green Racing until the end of 2008

The Brazilian joined the outfit at the start of this season with a two-year deal. Kanaan was one of the leading contenders for this year's IRL title, eventually winding up fourth in the standings after taking one victory.

"I'm really excited about my contract extension with Andretti Green Racing," said Kanaan. "It's what I wanted, where I wanted to be and with the people that I wanted to be with. I'm extremely happy about it.

"I feel very, very good about what we accomplished together in just one year. I think we can do a lot more together in the years we have in front of us and can hopefully give Honda another string of championships."

Team co-owner Michael Andretti said: "Tony Kanaan is the kind of guy that a lot of people would want driving for them. Every time he is in the car, he stands on the gas and gives it 100 percent. That is the type of guy we want helping to lead Andretti Green Racing. Tony loves being on this team and we're really happy to extend his contract. He's going to be a big part of the future of this team."
