Indianapolis 500: James Davison set to be 33rd entrant with KV

The presence of the Australian, who made two IndyCar starts with Dale Coyne Racing last year, will help to boost Chevrolet's engine representation for the series' marquee race, and will also ensure that the field hits its traditional car count of 33.

His car will carry #33, and the chassis will be that previously used by Panther Racing.

If the deal goes ahead, it will mark Davison's IndyCar oval debut.

Both of last year's appearances were on road courses, with the 27-year-old achieving a best result of 15th at Mid-Ohio.

Davison is KV's second additional entrant for the Indy 500, joining Townsend Bell alongside team regulars Sebastien Bourdais and Sebastian Saavedra.
