Fisher to return to IRL at Kentucky
Sarah Fisher is to return to the IRL IndyCar Series next weekend at Kentucky with Dreyer and Reinbold Racing
Fisher drove for the team between 2002 and 2003, and was the first female to take pole position in the series when she qualified on top at Kentucky in '02.
With Danica Patrick on the grid, it will the first time the two female drivers will race each other.
In 48 starts, Fisher has seven top-10 finishes. Her highest finish was second at Homestead in 2001. She last drove in the 2004 Indy 500 with Kelley Racing.
"It's very exciting to have Sarah back in the car at Kentucky Speedway," said team co-owner Dennis Reinbold. "We believe that it is a very good track for her, and with the momentum our team has been building, a good result is what we are looking forward to.
"It's always a pleasure working with Sarah, and this time will be no different."
A Dreyer and Reinbold return for Fisher looked unlikely a fortnight ago after Reinbold said that the plan was faltering. However, the situation has been resolved and Fisher is hoping that it will not take too long to reacquaint herself with the series.
"It has been some time and there is a lot of catching up to do," said Fisher. "Hopefully, it will be like riding a bike, but I am sure that there will be challenges we will have to figure out how to hurdle.
"This weekend is all about getting back on the bike. It's a personal goal of mine to at least run in the top 10. I want to be there at the end and racing as hard as I did before, and that in itself will achieve results."
