Fisher hospitalised after practice crash
Sarah Fisher was listed in good condition late on Saturday at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown after a crash during the final practice for Sunday's Firestone Indy 225 at Nazareth Speedway
Fisher was airlifted to hospital for evaluation of back pain, and was held overnight. She had full movement of extremities, IRL officials reported.
Fisher was awake and alert after being extracted from her car and placed on a stretcher. She was practicing in the Dreyer & Reinbold Dallara-Chevrolet when it spun and struck the wall coming out of turn two at the one-mile track. The car hit the wall with its left rear corner and skidded to a stop.
Rescue workers needed several minutes to remove Fisher from the car. Fisher had qualified 12th earlier in the day for Sunday's race.
Roger Yasukawa also encountered problems during the final practice when his Super Aguri Fernandez Racing Dallara-Honda rolled to a stop with engine problems. However, he is expected to start the race.
Mo Nunn Racing withdrew Tora Takagi's Panoz G Force-Toyota and replaced it with a back-up car after Takagi qualified last in the 20-car field.
