Dixon Switches to Dallara

Former IRL IndyCar Series champion Scott Dixon will race a Dallara chassis at this weekend's race at Motegi

Dixon's teammates Darren Manning and Ryan Briscoe will continue to use Panoz chassis for the Toyota-powered Chip Ganassi team.

Ganassi has only managed a pair of sixth places this season, and the team believes that Dixon's and Briscoe's similar driving styles will allow them to compare chassis.

Team managing director Mike Hull said: "Now our IndyCar program has expanded to three quality drivers, this is the perfect time to gauge the team's performance on multiple levels. The team is better able to monitor driver style and performance and it makes sense to have direct comprehension and comparison of the two chassis. This is another step to ensuring we are doing everything to stay competitive."

The team pointed out that it doesn't necessarily mean that they will switch to Dallara permanently, which would end an association with Panoz dating back to Juan Montoya's victory in the 2000 Indy 500.
