Dixon stays on top in practice two

Scott Dixon remained the man to beat in final practice for the IndyCar Series title decider at Homestead

Ryan Briscoe was second again, ahead of the third championship contender Dario Franchitti.

The session was halted two minutes early after a big crash for Briscoe's Penske team-mate Helio Castroneves.

The left rear suspension of the Brazilian's Dallara-Honda appeared to suffer a failure, pitching Castroneves into a violent spin. He was able to walk away unaided.

Franchitti had been quickest in the first half hour of the split session, with his Ganassi team-mate Dixon beating Briscoe to the top spot in the second segment.

Newman/Haas/Lanigan and KV Racing continued to be the title combatants' closest challengers. Graham Rahal and Alex Lloyd were fourth and fifth overall - Lloyd having been an excellent second to Franchitti in the first part of the session - with Moraes sixth for KV.

Raphael Matos made further progress up the top ten and ended up seventh for Luczo Dragon, while his rookie title rival Robert Doornbos (HVM) was slowest of all.

Danica Patrick (Andretti Green), Ed Carpenter (Vision) and Tomas Scheckter (Dreyer & Reinbold) completed the top ten. After her strong morning performance, Sarah Fisher was back in 21st having had to make an unscheduled engine change between sessions.
