Conway fastest in Sears test
Rookie Mike Conway set the pace in a two-day test in preparation for the next round of the IndyCar Series at Sears Point
The Dreyer & Reinbold driver's 1m17.48s lap beat title contender Ryan Briscoe (Penske) by 0.2 seconds.
EJ Viso was third fastest for HVM, with Dan Wheldon (Panther) and championship leader Scott Dixon (Ganassi) completing the top five.
Although the full field did not run at the test, a variety of returnees and new entrants appeared.
Franck Montagny was 1.5s down on Conway's time as he returned to the Andretti Green line-up for the first time since winter testing in preparation for his one-off appearance in the race.
AGR also gave Colombian Sebastian Saavedra, a race-winner for its Indy Lights arm, a run on the first day of the two day session.
The other new addition to the line-up was Nelson Philippe, who will drive for Conquest Racing at Sears Point and Homestead, and had his first IndyCar outing since his HVM drive at Indianapolis during the test.
