Bucknum Back with Honda
The famous Bucknum name will be back with Honda later this month when Jeff Bucknum, the son of former grand prix driver Ronnie who drove for the Japanese manufacturer in F1, drives for the company in two Indy Racing League events
Jeff, the winner of the LTP2 class in this year's Sebring 12 Hours, has already passed his rookie test and the Dreyer & Reindbold team has confirmed he will drive for them at Motegi and the Indianapolis 500 this year alongside Roger Yasukawa.
He is due to test with the Dreyer & Reinbold team next week at Sebring, before stepping into the cockpit for his first race at Motegi.
Bucknum's name became synonymous with Honda's efforts in Formula 1 when Ronnie contested 11 races for the company in the 1960s. Although his best finish was fifth place in the 1965 Mexican Grand Prix, he will go down in history as the first man to drive a Honda in F1, when it made its debut at the 1964 German Grand Prix.
