Briscoe back in a racing car
Ryan Briscoe has returned to the cockpit of a racing car for the first time since his massive accident in the Indy Racing League event at Chicago early last month
The Australian has recovered enough from the fractured bones that he suffered to conduct a kart test in Parma last week before driving a Prema Powerteam Formula Three car at the Lausitzring in Germany on Friday.
Dr. Riccardo Ceccarelli, head of the Formula Medicine Clinic where Briscoe is recovering, believes the IRL rookie will be back to full fitness in two weeks.
"We're very happy Ryan was able to drive the racing car so early in his recovery, even if he has not yet absolutely fully recovered," he said.
"This was certainly made possible with Ryan because of his strong-will and strong-mindedness, characteristics which don't let pain slow him down. From our point of view these two tests have been fundamental to define the last necessary steps of his rehabilitative program.
"I'm sure that with another two more weeks of intensive work he will be completely recovered both mentally and physically."
