Brack's condition upgraded

Injured IRL IndyCar Series racer Kenny Brack has been moved out of intensive care and his condition upgraded to satisfactory following his horror crash at Texas Motor Speedway a week ago

IRL officials have confirmed that Brack's impact with the debris fencing at Texas registered an initial hit of just under 200g - twice that of a regular high-speed oval smash. Brack suffered a facial injury, a fractured right thigh, a fractured sternum and lumbar vertebrae, plus fractures to both ankles in the crash.

Anita Brack, Kenny's wife, said: "He is frustrated by many of the tubes in him after the surgeries. But he was back to being the same Kenny and giving the nurses and everyone a bad time. It was big lift for me to see him that way. Of course, he was typical Kenny and asking lots of questions - about the race, his injuries and the medical equipment. But I like that. It shows he is returning to his normal self."

Brack is expected to remain at Parkland Hospital in Texas for several more days and will eventually be transferred to Indianapolis to begin rehabilitation for his injuries.

"Actually the doctors here have started Kenny working on moving his arms and legs," added Anita Brack. "So the rehab is beginning already. We are continuing to pray for Kenny's recovery and we hope the racing community and fans can do the same."
