Beatriz to make IndyCar debut
Ana Beatriz will make her IndyCar debut in her home event in Sao Paulo in a third Dreyer & Reinbold car
The 24-year-old Brazilian is to join Justin Wilson and Mike Conway in the Dreyer & Reinbold line-up for the season-opener on 14 March, and hopes her deal can be extended to cover the full season.
"I was very happy when my manager, Andre Ribeiro, came back from Indianapolis and had set everything up with DRR," said Beatriz. "Hopefully we can get the rest together for the whole season.
"I'm really, really excited and happy to be here. I think the team is very professional and I have great team-mates with Mike Conway and Justin Wilson. I hope that I can learn a lot from these British drivers.
"This is very special for me doing my debut in the IZOD IndyCar race at my home event. It's also very special to be the first female Brazilian race car driver to race there and it will be a great experience."
Beatriz steps up to IndyCar after two seasons in Indy Lights, where she became the first female race winner in the championship. She was third in the 2008 standings, but had to sit out several races last year due to a lack of funding.
She will test with Dreyer & Reinbold for the first time at Sebring this weekend.
