Charlie Kimball suffered an injury to his right hand in an IndyCar testing accident at Mid-Ohio on Thursday.
The Ganassi driver received treatment after the incident, but IndyCar medical director Dr Michael Olinger said he will see a specialist on Friday.
"Charlie Kimball was treated for a fracture of the fifth metacarpal of his right hand at MecCentral Hospital in Mansfield, Ohio, after being involved in an incident during a team test July 26 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course," Olinger said in a statement.
"Kimball will be re-evaluated by an Indianapolis-based specialist on July 27."
Kimball is currently 14th in the IndyCar standings. Mid-Ohio hosts the next round of the series, which takes place on August 5.
