Wayne Taylor Racing leads Ganassi after 12 Hours at Daytona

The Wayne Taylor Racing Dallara DP leads the Daytona 24 Hours at half distance, with Jordan Taylor at the wheel

Taylor passed Kyle Larson to take the lead during the 11th hour, although both the #01 Ganassi Riley DP and the sister car, currently driven by Scott Pruett, remain strong contenders for victory.

But following a yellow-flag period, Taylor was able to eke out a lead over the Ganassi cars, with Larson five seconds behind and Pruett now over 13s down.

The Michael Shank Racing Ligier-Honda is the only other car on the lead lap, with AJ Allmendinger driving, despite earlier being lapped when John Pew was in the car.

David Heinemeier Hansson holds fifth for Extreme Speed, one lap down, as the HPD-Honda continues to run strongly on its competition debut.

The Action Express Coyote DP had been a factor at the front, but dropped back after suffering a loss of fuel pressure while Joao Barbosa was at the wheel.

The car was recovered to the pits, with a loose connector in the fuel system located, and repaired, meaning it was able to rejoin.

Christian Fittipaldi is currently at the wheel, passing the Spirit of Daytona Coyote DP driven by Richard Westbrook for sixth shortly before the 12-hour mark, with both two laps off the lead.

The only other car anywhere near the front of the Prototype-class battle is the Starworks Riley of ex-Formula 1 driver Rubens Barrichello, which is five laps behind the leader.

Oliver Gavin leads GTLM for the Corvette Racing squad, with Ryan Briscoe in the second Chevrolet holding second but engaged in a tight battle with Walker Porsche driver Pat Long.

The two works Porsches had been in contention until a collision in the 12th hour delayed both.

Marc Lieb, in the leading Porsche, tangled with the Aston Martin driven by Christoffer Nygaard and was collected by the second Porsche of Earl Bamber, who spun after taking to the grass in avoidance.

Both cars suffered significant damage, meaning that Bruno Spengler in the #25 Rahal BMW is the last of the four cars still on the lead lap.

In the GT Daytona class, the Scuderia Corsa Ferrari of Jeff Segal leads, while an attritional Prototype Challenge category is currently led by CORE Autosport driver Jon Bennett.
