Pruett pens Action Express deal for Daytona 24 Hours and Sebring

Five-time Daytona 24 Hours winner Scott Pruett will return to the US enduro in January with the Action Express team

Pruett pens Action Express deal for Daytona 24 Hours and Sebring

The 55-year-old has been confirmed in the team's lead Coyote-Chevrolet Corvette DP alongside Christian Fittipaldi and Joao Barbosa for the IMSA SportsCar Championship opener after testing with Action Express last week.

He will then swap to the team's second car to drive alongside Dane Cameron and Eric Curran for the Sebring 12 Hours in March.

Action Express team manager Gary Nelson said: "It's not everyday that you get the opportunity to have Scott Pruett drive one of your race cars.

"We've competed against Scott for years and we know what he brings to the table as a competitor."

Pruett added that it was a "a great feeling" to be able to drive with the winners of the past two Tudor United SportsCar Championships (as the IMSA series was formerly known) at Daytona.

The US sportscar veteran is returning to the ranks of the Prototype class with Action Express following his departure from Chip Ganassi Racing after an 12-year stint in which he won Daytona four times and took five Grand-Am titles.

Pruett has signed for the RSR Racing-run Lexus squad and will lead development of the RC-F GT3 racer ahead of an entry into the GT Daytona class of the IMSA series later next season.

Another Daytona victory for Pruett would take him clear of US sportscar legend Hurley Haywood, with whom he is currently tied on five wins in the all-time winners' list.
