The 2019 Goodwood Festival of Speed's theme will be 'Speed Kings - Motorsport's Record Breakers'.
Between July 4-7, the 27th edition of the annual hillclimb at the grounds of Goodwood House will celebrate the people and the machines that set the benchmark or raised the bar.
There will be a specific focus on the land speed record, but all types of record-breaking in motorsport will be included, such as the most consecutive wins, the most championships, fastest laps, the highest number of pole positions.
This year's Festival marks 20 years since ex-Formula 1 driver Nick Heidfeld set the outright record for the 1.16-mile Goodwood Hill course in 41.6 seconds at the wheel of a McLaren MP4/13.
Last year, the electric Volkswagen I.D. R Pikes Peak car came close to beating that mark, setting a new electric car record in the process, and the 2019 event could finally have Heidfeld's record broken.
"We are delighted with this year's theme, as it offers an opportunity to celebrate the ultimate heroes of motor sport past, present and future," said Will Kinsman, head of motorsport content at Goodwood.
"The team is working hard to ensure the paddocks are bursting with the most talented drivers and riders alongside the most iconic road and race machines in the world.
"They are also delving into the more obscure corners of the sport to ensure the Festival of Speed maintains and enhances its reputation as the greatest motor sport show on earth."
