Testing: Gulf Audi takes over at the top
With the works Audis absent from round three of the European Le Mans Series after their dominant 1-2 at the Le Mans 24 Hours last month, the Gulf-sponsored R8 of Johansson Racing flew the flag for the German marque in testing for this weekend's 1000km race at Estoril
In the two-hour session, the Audi of Stefan Johansson, Patrick Lemarie and Tom Coronel dominated and set the fastest time of 1m30.545s, almost three second ahead of the Pescarolo Sport Courage C60 of Jean-Christophe Boullion, Laurent Redon and Boris Derichebourg.
The RML-run Saleen S7R of Bruno Lambert, Ian McKellar Jnr and Chris Goodwin was third fastest, and quickest in the GTS class, pushing the LMP675 Didier Bonnet Racing Debora down to fourth. The top three in the GT class was an all-Porsche affair, with the PK Sport Porsche 911 GT3 of Mike Youles, Robin Liddell and Piers Masarati taking the top spot.
Friday's practice session begins at 09:10, with official qualifying starting at 11.45.
