Sebring GT runner-up is reinstated

The White Lightning-Petersen Motorsports Porsche has been reinstated to second place in the GT class in the American Le Mans Series Sebring 12 Hours last month. It had been announced on March 20 that the car was excluded from the final race results due to an oversized fuel tank

The Porsche 911 GT3 RS of Johnny Mowlem, Nic Jonsson and Craig Stanton was reinstated on appeal, as the stewards of the meeting determined that certain procedural issues, regarding the fuel capacity check, presented a question as to the validity of the testing. In addition, the review determined that the entrant did not have the opportunity to question the procedures and request an on-site retest before the car was released.

"This reversal is a perfect illustration of why we have a review, protest and appeals process," said Doug Robinson, executive director of IMSA. "In this instance, the entrant presented a very valid case during the review process and the stewards accordingly reversed their prior decision to exclude the car from the official results of the event."
