Qualifying: Herbert claims pole
Johnny Herbert claimed pole position for Saturday's Sebring 12 Hours, leading a Bentley sweep of the front row of the grid for the historic endurance race
The British former Formula 1 star, who is sharing his Speed 8 with Mark Blundell and David Brabham, claimed pole with a fastest lap of 1m48.108s. Rinaldo Capello was just 0.21s slower in the second Bentley.
Frank Biela set the third fastest time in the R8 of former Audi works squad Joest, with Emanuelle Pirro fourth in Champion Racing's similar machine.
Fifth fastest, and top LMP 675 class runner, was James Weaver in Dyson Racing's Lola-MG, with Johnny Kane putting Audi Sports UK's R8 into sixth position.
Briton Oliver Gavin, who has claimed the victory in the GTS category at Sebring for the past two years, secured the GTS pole in his works Chevrolet Corvette C5-R, with a track record beating lap of 1m59.024s. The second factory Corvette qualified second in class, with the Veloqx Prodrive Ferrari 550 Maranello driven by Kelvin Burt, Darren Turner and Anthony Davidson only third, after dominating the race's practice sessions.
Timo Bernhard took his first career ALMS pole in the GT class, lapping his Alex Job Racing Porsche 911 GT3 RS in 2m06.023s. Orbit Motorsport's Porsche will start second in class, with the second Alex Job Porsche in third.
