PK follows up Vitaphone protest

The PK-Carsport Chevrolet team carried out its threat to protest the Vitaphone Maserati squad after last Sunday's FIA GT Championship finale at Zolder

PK, which lost the title to Vitaphone Maserati drivers Michael Bartels and Andrea Bertolini on Sunday, has made allegations of race fixing against the German team.

It protested Vitaphone on three counts after the race, and subsequently revealed its intention to lodge two appeals against the resulting decisions.

The first protest by PK was upheld. A pitstop infringement for too many mechanics working on the car during refuelling resulted in a 30-second penalty for Bartels and Bertolini. Because the finishing positions were unchanged, PK has protrested the severity of the punishments.

PK's other protests claimed that the Bartels/Bertolini and Alessandro Pier Guidi/Matteo Bobbi Maseratis were running at the incorrect success ballast because the team had unfairly swapped positions in the previous three races.

The protests were thrown out, but PK decided to take the protest against the Pier Guidi/Bobbi car to appeal.

PK team manager Jorge Seegers told AUTOSPORT:"We want to re-open the team orders case."

The team believes that the FIA's Court of Appeal will be able to take into account the team's evidence of race fixing from the previous three FIA GT rounds.
