Pescarolo: Monza Win Not Enough
Henri Pescarolo has said that his team's victory at the 1000km of Monza didn't make up for the disappointment of failing to win last month' Le Mans 24 Hours
Jean-Christophe Boullion and Emmanuel Collard took a five-lap victory in the race, the second round of the Le Mans Endurance Series. It was the first win for the team since Nogaro's round of the FIA Sportscar championship in 2003.
The race had been tighter than the winning margin suggested, however.
The Pescarolo Sport suffered a gearbox selection problem, which resulted in Collard taking a trip across the gravel at the second Lesmo on his second stint. The gearbox problem continued to plague the team and the Creation of Nicolas Minassian pushed hard for the win.
However their challenge ended in the final hour when they had to pit from second with a water leak.
Pescarolo said: "This doesn't make up for the disappointment for Le Mans. We had a gearbox problem but it wasn't the same the problem as we had at Le Mans. It was getting worse and worse but I still think we were quick enough to stay infront of Nicholas."
Collard and Boullion's Pescarolo had dominated the build up to last month's Le Mans 24 Hours, but finished second to Champion Racing's Audi R8 after having to pit with gearbox problems twice during the race.
