Pastorelli puts Lamborghini on pole

The All-Inkl Lamborghini team claimed its first FIA GT1 World Championship pole position ahead of tomorrow's season opener in Abu Dhabi

Nicky Pastorelli's best time of 1m51.668s in the final session of the three-part qualifying procedure gave him pole by nearly half a second. Team-mate Dominik Schwager had earlier topped the times in Q2 at the wheel of their Lamborghini Murcielago R-SV.

"It is never easy, but having a good car always helps," said Pastorelli. "I hope we can do it tomorrow when it really counts.

"I'm happy for the team because they've put in so much work over the past 12 months. We started from zero last year."

Stefan Mucke ended up second fastest on 1m52.113s in the Young Driver AMR Aston Martin DBR9 he shares with Darren Turner. That put him just less than a tenth clear of the Marc VDS Ford GT driven by Maxime Martin.

The second Young Driver Aston was fourth fastest in the hands of Alex Muller. He just edged out Mike Hezemans in the Selleslagh-run Chevrolet Corvette C6.R entered under the Exim Bank Team China banner.

Top Nissan was the JR Motorsports entry driven by Peter Dumbreck, who was three tenths quicker than Enrique Bernoldi in the GT-R fielded by the sister Sumo Power team.

The four Nissans will start in positions six to nine in tomorrow's qualifying race. Lucas Luhr ended up eighth in the second JR entry, while Jamie Campbell-Walter will line up ninth after failing to make into the final round of qualifying.
