British television presenter Noel Edmonds is to invest £10 million in a British motorsport design company, according to this week's Autosport magazine

Edmonds is to take a 50 per cent stake in the Piper International Design Group, run by former Jaguar and Panoz sportscar designer John Piper, with the intention of putting together an assault on the Le Mans 24 hour race within two years.

Piper and Edmonds worked together on the 1997 Le Mans effort with Don Panoz, which was shown by the BBC as a pair of documentaries, and the TV presenter later helped Piper to set up PIDG.

The former 'House Party' frontman described the French endurance classic as "unfinished business" and said that PIDG planned to run a sportscar programme for a major manufacturer. The company will become part of Edmonds' Unique Group, the umbrella organisation for his multi-media promotions companies.

"We are asking manufacturers and big companies if they want their future racing programmes to be a well-kept secret or to be well promoted globally," Edmonds told Autosport.
