Mowlem lands Saleen drive
Johnny Mowlem will drive a works-backed Saleen in the thriving GTS class of the American Le Mans Series next year
Autosport.com's sportscar columnist commented: "This is a fantastic opportunity and potentially the biggest thing that has happened in my career."
The Saleen will be run by the ACEMCO team with which Mowlem contested this year's Le Mans Hours in a Ferrari 360 Modena. The squad's other driver will be Terry Borcheller, who won the 2001 ALMS GTS title driving a Konrad-run Saleen S7R.
Jeff Giangrande, ACEMCO's owner, is fired up about the new deal: "Anyone who has watched the GTS battle the last several years knows that this is where the competition is," he said. "We're also very aware of what the privateer Saleen S7Rs accomplished in their first two seasons of competition winning seven of eight championships, 37 of 72 races and holding the majority of the class poles and fastest lap records."
"With Terry and Johnny on board, the Saleens will once again become the fastest guns in the west."
