Lola keeps up in the safety stakes

Lola's new sportscar is the first of its type to pass the full range of crash safety tests demanded by the sport's geverning body, the FIA

The B2K/40 chassis will run in the second division for open top sports-prototypes in the American Le Mans Series, and the Sports Racing World Cup.

Lola believes the B2K/40 is the first car with an aluminium chassis to pass the regulations. Lola's Managing director David Bowes claimed to be pleased, though not surprised with the results.

"We always expect to pass safety regulations as we have a hard-line policy on safety, our customers expect nothing less," he said. "To produce the first all-aluminium chassis SR2 car to pass the full tests is a great achievement."

The car will make its debut at Phoenix next month in the hands of the Martin Snow and TRP Racing teams.

Lola is famed for its sportscar designs which have ranged from the tiny Mk.1, the first Lola car, to the awesome Chevrolet V8 powered T70. The Huntingdon marque also have an SR1 division sportscar design racing in the ALMS, and a Champ Car.
