Lehto: We must win at Mosport
JJ Lehto has said that the Champion Audi team must stop the Joest victory run in the American Le Mans Series at Mosport this weekend
Champion has been outscored by Joest in the past two races, and Lehto sits eight points back in the championship standings. The Finn's team-mate, Johnny Herbert, is a further two points adrift.
"If we have any thoughts of the Driver's and Team's ALMS titles, nothing less than a win will be acceptable at Mosport," said Lehto. "With Joest Audi finishing ahead of us at Sears Point and winning at Trois Rivières, Johnny Herbert and I must drive the Champion Audi to victory lane."
Joest Audis have won the last three ALMS races at Mosport. Frank Biela and Marco Werner pilot the car this year. Werner hasn't raced at Mosport before, and Biela knows it will be a challenge as usual.
"It's not easy to find a good line and to drive consistently quickly because of the bumps and the number of surface changes," said Biela. "As soon as you go off line you have hardly any grip at all. I hope we can exploit the Audi R8's good aerodynamics at this circuit."
