FR3.5 driver Tom Dillmann eyes more GT outings after Bentley debut

Formula Renault 3.5 frontrunner Tom Dillmann is targeting future sportscar outings after making a successful GT debut with the HTP Bentley squad in last weekend's Zolder Blancpain Sprint Series round

FR3.5 driver Tom Dillmann eyes more GT outings after Bentley debut

The 26-year-old, who finished third in last year's Porsche Carrera Cup in France, was brought in by HTP to drive its second Bentley Continental GT3 in Belgium and claimed a double victory alongside Jules Szymkowiak in the Silver Cup class.

He is now hoping to contest more races with the German HTP squad, which has multiple programmes across the BSS, the sister Blancpain Endurance Series and ADAC GT Masters in Germany.

"I definitely want to do more in GT racing this season," said Dillmann, who is racing with Carlin in FR3.5 this year

"It would make sense to continue with HTP and Bentley, but I am open to other offers. I have no clash for the Spa 24 Hours and would like to do it."

Dillmann, who tested for HTP in January, revealed that he had looked to make a switch to sportscars for the 2015 season before landing a seat with the Indonesian-funded Carlin team.

"I was aiming for GTs because that is the best way to become a professional, but then I got a really good offer in FR3.5 to do that," explained the GP2 race winner.

Dillmann was brought in by HTP when Olivier Lombard, who partnered Szymkowiak in the opening two BSS events, faced a shortfall in funding.

HTP said it was working with Lombard, who won LMP2 at the Le Mans 24 Hours on his debut in 2011, to bring him back into its line-up.
