Buhk and Gotz set to return to Spa 24 Hours with HTP Mercedes

Two thirds of the winning HTP Motorsport Mercedes line-up from last year's Spa 24 Hours could return to the event in an additional entry by the German team

Maximilian Buhk and Maximilian Gotz, team-mates at HTP in the Blancpain Sprint Series and ADAC GT Masters, are not scheduled to take part in the Blancpain Endurance Series blue-riband event on July 26/27, but the German team is aiming to field the extra car alongside its two regular Pro class Mercedes-Benz SLS AMGs.

Team boss Norbert Brukner told AUTOSPORT: "We are working on it: we'd like to have them together in one car, but it all depends on finance."

Buhk and Gotz would not be reunited with their partner at Spa last year, Mercedes legend Bernd Schneider.

The German took the seat filled by Buhk in the #84 entry at Monza for last weekend's Silverstone BES round and is also scheduled to drive that car at Spa alongside Nico Verdonck and Harold Primat.

Bruckner said HTP was "thinking outside the box" when it came to a potential team-mate for Buhk and Gotz.

Buhk missed Silverstone because he was racing in the Masters event the same weekend with Gotz at Zandvoort and is only scheduled to contest one more round, Paul Ricard at the end of next month, unless the Spa deal comes to fruition.

There is a chance that he will do the Nurburgring 1000Km BES finale, which clashes with the Masters race at the Sachsenring, depending on where he lies in the respective championships.

Buhk leads the Blancpain GT Series drivers' series, which is based on the results of the BES and the BSS, despite missing Silverstone.

Bruckner is visiting Detroit this weekend to evaluate the United SportsCar Championship and the World Challenge, which run on the same bill as the IndyCar event.
