Bouchut on pole in Dubai

Christophe Bouchut put the number 17 Russian Age Racing Aston Martin DBR9 on pole position for tomorrow's FIA GT championship round in Dubai

Running as the Dubai GT team in Middle East Aston Martin colours, the Frenchman's lap of 1:55.215 secured his tenth career FIA GT pole, and his third of the season.

Neither Bouchut or teammate Stephane Ortelli improved on the time in the afternoon's second session, but the morning lap was still an impressive five tenths ahead of Mike Hezeman's best in the number 6 GLPK Carsport Corvette.

Phillip Peter qualified the number 16 Maserati MC12 GT1 in third, up the order from fifth after setting their best time in this afternoon's second qualifying session.

In GT2 the Gruppe M Porsches took their usual place at the front of the field, with Marc Lieb putting the number 66 car on pole with a lap of 2:01.802 in the opening session, ahead of the number 88 sister car of Emmanuel Collard.

Chris Buncombe put the number 89 Ferrari 360 Modena on third on the GT2 grid, his highest starting position in the championship.

The number 11 Ferrari 550 Maranello and the number 5 Saleen S7 R will start at the back of the grid after qualifying seventh and ninth respectively, because of engine changes.
