Weekend review and results round-up

As championships around the world hit their home stretches, a horde of title battles either closed up or took dramatic twists over the weekend

Will Power's hopes of snatching the IndyCar crown from Dario Franchitti took a big leap in Baltimore, where the Australian emerged on top of a highly eventful race to take a second straight win and narrow his Ganassi rival's points advantage to just five.

There were twists and turns in the major tin top title dices too. Martin Tomczyk regained the DTM lead by winning in the wet at Brands Hatch, Yvan Muller's double win at Valencia saw him steal the World Touring Car lead from Chevrolet team-mate Rob Huff, and in an unsurprisingly destructive British Touring Car meeting at Knockhill it was home hero Gordon Shedden who came away with a narrow championship advantage.

One significant title has already been clinched. It wasn't Felipe Nasr's finest weekend of the British Formula 3 season, but he did enough at a very wet Rockingham to become the latest Brazilian to secure the title.

MotoGP closed up slightly as well at Misano, where Jorge Lorenzo halted Honda's winning streak and trimmed Casey Stoner's points lead a little - though the Australian still has a 35-point cushion.
