Weekend review and results round-up
It was not so long ago that Casey Stoner looked like he was starting to sneak off with the 2011 MotoGP title, but the championship battle closed up again at the Sachsenring this weekend, as Jorge Lorenzo beat his title rival to second place in an extremely close-fought race won by Dani Pedrosa, all of which bodes extremely well for an exciting second half of the season
The battle closed up in the World Touring Car Championship at Donington Park too, where a pair of wins for Yvan Muller allowed him to eat into his Chevrolet team-mate and home favourite Rob Huff's advantage.
No points were on offer in the DTM this weekend, as it took to Munich's Olympic Stadium for a Race of Champions style show event, won by Bruno Spengler.
British Formula 3 and the GT1 World Championship were in action at Paul Ricard in France. Amid three extremely eventful races, two wins for Felipe Nasr took him further clear in the points chase, while a double win for JRM Nissan's Lucas Luhr and Michael Krumm took them to the head of the sportscar standings.
