Weekend review and results round-up
Three classic venues were at the centre of this weekend's motorsport schedule, with NASCAR returning to Daytona, IndyCar back in road course trim for Watkins Glen, and the DTM making its annual visit to the famous Norisring
For the third straight year, the latter saw victory for Jamie Green, while first-time polesitter Ralf Schumacher's Saturday breakthrough was nullified by a jumped start in the race. On the same bill, the shrinking Formula 3 Euro Series field belied its lack of numbers to produce two entertaining races, won by Edoardo Mortara and Valtteri Bottas.
In America, Kevin Harvick emerged on top from the traditional carnage in NASCAR's second visit of 2010 to Daytona, while Will Power took his first win since April at Watkins Glen to bolster his IndyCar points lead.
Formula 2 and the World Touring Car Championship headed to the rather newer location of Portimao, where SEAT took two tin-top victories - Tiago Monteiro controlling proceedings in home in race one before Gabriele Tarquini battled through the pack for the second win. Jolyon Palmer stretched his F2 points lead in the first race as main rival Dean Stoneman had a nightmare, but the latter made up for it with a Sunday win.
No change in MotoGP, as Jorge Lorenzo shrugged off his rivals' challenges to take a third straight victory and a second home win of 2010 at Catalunya.
