Walker Signs Tagliani and Marshall

Walker Racing has announced that the team will be fielding Alex Tagliani and Marcus Marshall in the Champ Car series for 2005.

Tagliani will start his fifth year in the series for his third team, while Marshall will start his rookie year after moving up from British Formula Three.

There had been question marks over Walker's ability to compete this year, but team boss Derrick Walker noted: "Media speculation had us gone from the series and closing our doors, but the reality is we have had the elements of our two car multi-year commitment for nearly two months now.

"It takes time to find new sponsor partners. This commitment is clearly an indication of how the series is gaining strength, and the renewed interest of companies in the future of the Champ Car World Series."

"I am really excited about this whole deal and to be racing in Champ Car because this is really where I wanted to be,"Tagliani noted at the announcement. "Derrick has a well-established team here and a team that is very motivated to do well.

"We won't have a lot of testing time before Long Beach but that could be an advantage, because we will have more days to use during the year. This is a team with a lot of potential, and I'm looking forward to the year."

The team plans to run both drivers at the two-day test to be held at Sebring starting on March 23, running a Lola chassis.
