Walker confirms Van Diemen link-up

Walker Racing has linked up with renowned British single-seater manufacturer Van Diemen to develop its Reynard chassis for the 2003 and '04 seasons

Walker bought the rights of the Reynard Champ Car after the closure of Reynard and Reynard North America last year. Van Diemen, part of Don Panoz's Elan Motorsport Technologies group that also includes G-Force, will help Walker on the development of its current 02I chassis.

"We are pleased to have additional support from Van Diemen to focus exclusively on areas of development under the current rules and, of course, the much needed future development of the 2004 update packages," said Derrick Walker.

Van Diemen chief Ralph Firman Snr said: "We are delighted that our group will be able to offer development and manufacturing support to the teams competing with Reynard chassis in the Champ Car World Series."

Walker will continue to use the services of Oxford Racing Developments to supply technical support and manufacture current car parts. Six Reynard chassis are being used in the Champ Car World Series this year.
