Vallelunga Ferrari Challenge: Alexandr Skryabin snatches victory
Alexandr Skryabin took a last-lap win in the first of two Ferrari Challenge races at Vallelunga in Italy
Despite having trailed his Ferrari Moscow team-mate Alessandro Balzan for the entire race - at times the gap between the two as large as three seconds - Skryabin made a race-winning move on Balzan just corners from the chequered flag to take an unlikely win.
Balzan was second, increasing his points lead over chief title rival Bjorn Grossman, who finished third in another Ferrari Moscow entry.
Grossman, who started down in fifth, used a good start to clear both Lorenzo Case' (Motor Piacenza) and Dario Caso (CDP) and set up yet another podium finish.
Unlike Grossman, Case' had a poor opening lap to the race, dropping to fifth, behind Caso. The pair held those positions to the finish.
Apart from the last-lap lead change, the only other major excitement happened on the first lap.
Rossocorsa Pellin driver Patrick Gobbo took a high-speed excursion off the track just a couple of corners into the race, eventually rejoining backwards and directly in the path of Ferrari Moscow's Andrea Belluzzi. The resulting impact took both drivers out of the race on the spot.
Meanwhile, CDP driver Daniele di Amato took the Coppa Shell race, leading home Alexey Basov (Ferrari Moscow) and Alessandro Vezzoni (Rossocorsa Pellin).
