Tracy: I can't afford to make mistakes

Paul Tracy, who currently leads the Champ Car World Series points standings, has admitted that he cannot afford to give his rivals any further opportunities to gain ground on him in the championship, after crashing out of the last race in Miami following an incident with Sebastien Bourdais

Thankfully for the Canadian, chief title rival Bruno Junqueira also hit trouble in Miami, finishing ninth after a clash with Adrian Fernandez while battling for the lead of the event. However, Tracy is aware that he cannot afford to keep giving the Brazilian the opportunity to close in on his championship lead.

"We were fortunate that the problems we had in the last race in Miami didn't cost us big time in the championship," said Tracy, "but I know that we simply can't keep handing opportunities to people because sooner or later they're going to capitalise on them."

Tracy heads into this weekend's race in Mexico City with a 13-point advantage over Junqueira in the championship, and says he will be pushing hard to take his seventh win of the year.

"With only three races to go and with the championship still very much up for grabs," he said, "it's at the point where you have to take control of your own destiny and go out there with the intention of winning all three, so that you don't have to concern yourself with what anyone else does."
