Tracy aiming to regain points lead

Champ Car World Series front-runner Paul Tracy is convinced that he can regain the championship lead at Mid-Ohio. He lost it to Bruno Junqueira last weekend when the Brazilian won at Road America while the Player's Forsythe star crashed out in the rain

Tracy, who has led the points table since the start of the season, is still to win his first Champ Car title and many feel that this is his best chance. But it's not just Junqueira that Tracy has to worry about, as the other Newman/Haas Racing star Sebastien Bourdais is also well in the hunt.

"I've never won at Mid-Ohio," said Tracy. "My first one here couldn't come at a better time than this weekend."

Tracy fell three points behind Brazil's Junqueira after his crash, which ended a streak of five straight podiums, including two consecutive victories.

"I look at the early exit at Road America as a setback in that we lost our lead in the drivers' championship, but at this stage of the season, with seven races to go, it isn't a catastrophe by any means," said Tracy.

"I've said for weeks that I believe the championship battle is going to go right down to the wire, and the driver that wins it will be the one who makes the fewest mistakes. We made one mistake too many last weekend and it cost us some precious points. But Team Player's has been so consistent all season long, I see no reason why we can't recapture that winning formula at Mid-Ohio."
