That Michelin chose to reimburse the reported 120,000-strong Indianapolis crowd in full, plus, in effect, 'fine' themselves the cost of 20,000 2006 tickets is a remarkable gesture, not least as it implies a degree of culpability - even if the French tyre company's press release specifically stated that it was under no legal obligation to do so.
