Team principals meet with Ecclestone
Formula One group principal Bernie Ecclestone is to meet with principals of the ten Formula 1 teams this morning at Sao Paulo, the venue for the Brazilian GP. The team chiefs are expected to lobby against Ecclestone's decision to break off negotiations with the BRDC over the promotion of a British Grand Prix
The BRDC yesterday issued a statement insisting that it will pursue all avenues to revive discussions and confirmed that the length of the contract (Ecclestone wants one-year with an option for six more and the BRDC wants two, with an option for five more) was the most contentious issue.
"There's a meeting tomorrow of the team principals and Bernie and I'm sure it will be an issue for discussion," BAR team principal David Richards told Reuters. "The teams do not have the influence of where we race that one might assume we do," he added. "The commercial rights are completely with Bernie Ecclestone and his companies and he determines where the races take place."
