Team Canada Aiming to Lure Tracy

Team Canada have approached Paul Tracy about possible guest drives in A1 Grand Prix, Autosport-Atlas can reveal

Team Canada Aiming to Lure Tracy

Officials at the team are attempting to lure the former 2003 Champ Car World Series title winner to join Formula Renault UK star Sean McIntosh in the Canadian A1 Grand Prix team this season.

Autosport-Atlas understands that Tracy has been approached with the possibility of driving selected races in the Team JVA-run squad, but are waiting to hear back on their offer.

McIntosh scored two points for the team by finishing ninth in the feature race at Brands Hatch last weekend.

Tracy's immediate career path is uncertain, with the 36 year-old admitting last month he would be open to considering new challenges.

He recently tested a Richard Childress Racing NASCAR Nextel Cup car, but has an offer from current team Forsythe Racing to stay in Champ Cars next season.

Tracy has experience of two of the circuits A1 GP will race on in his inaugural season - having won Champ Car races at Monterrey Mexico and Laguna Seca, California.

Tracy is the latest American-based racer to be linked with the series. Former IRL champion Tony Kanaan will drive selected races with Team Brazil and newly crowned champion Dan Wheldon is set for guest drives in the British car.
