Shimoda Claims Mid-Ohio Pole
All four class qualifying records were broken as Hayanari Shimoda claimed pole position for the American Le Mans at Mid-Ohio
Shimoda claimed pole by over a second with a 1:11.333 lap in the Zytek 04S he is sharing with Tom Chilton, with James Weaver in the first of the Lola EX257s outpacing the two Audi R8s. Clint Field sits on the LMP2 pole in the Lola B05/40 with a time of 1:16.540.
LMGT1 is led by the factory Chevrolet Corvette C6-Rs, Oliver Gavin outpacing Johnny O'Connell by less than a tenth of a second.
Finally, in LMGT2, the fastest time was set by Timo Bernhard in a class solely comprised of Porsche 911 GT3 RSRs, Bernhard almost a second clear of his competitors.
Four cars had times disallowed, the Maserati MC12 of Andrea Bertolini/Fabrizio De Simone losing its times after electing to change tyres when De Simone spun and flat-spotted his tyres. Patrick Long/Jorg Bergmeister and Scott Maxwell/Bryan Sellers had ride height violations, while Bill Auberlen/Robin Liddell had a driver substitution due to force majeure.
