Safari Rally dropped from WRC calendar
The Safari Rally has been dropped from the 2003 FIA World Rally Championship. A World Motor Sport Council statement said: "The Inmarsat Safari Rally has been excluded because the necessary guarantees for the event had not been given, and the ASN had failed to meet its obligations to the FIA." The WMSC yesterday released a 2003 calendar including only 12 confirmed rounds. The two rallies reported to be vying for the final slots in the championship, the Cyprus Rally and the Anatolian Rally (in Turkey), will both be included on dates to be confirmed

Rallye Deutschland is included subject to an examination of safety issues by the FIA Safety Commission, and Rally GB subject to an observers' report.
