Renault UK into BARC series
The championship, which has been renamed Formula Renault BARC, will be run by Renault UK and is designed for drivers to use the latest cars at a vastly reduced budget of £50-60,000, which is under half the mark for a topline car

Renault UK motorsport manager Simon North said: "In the world of Formula Renault there are no uses of the current car as a true feeder formula, so what we're doing is unique. We were originally thinking of using the 2003-specification cars, but as there is no difference in price there is no point in running to that spec."
Although the means by which the cars will be slowed to allow a lower National B licence qualification have yet to be finalised, it is likely to be either through a restrictor plate or an rpm cap.
The move is a potential lifeline for the BARC series which has been blighted by declining grids as the older FRenault cars become more scarce and expensive to run. The championship is one of a number believed to be under scrutiny from the MSA's Championship Control Panel.
North said: "We first suggested this a year ago, and they weren't really ready for it at the time. We resurrected the idea this year and they've had a reality check."
BARC series representative Martin Bloss is delighted with the move, which he believes will give the category a new lease of life.
Bloss said: "Although not all our competitors are supportive, most recognise this is a massive boost for the championship. It will interest the main Renault teams as it's a good place for young drivers to build up experience against some strong opposition, and will give the amateur drivers a strong series."
