Points leader Dolby to start last

Superleague Formula points leader Craig Dolby of Tottenham Hotspur will start Sunday's fifth round of the series from the back of the grid after a disastrous weekend so far at the Nurburgring in Germany

Dolby was slowest in his qualifying group during the quickfire 10-minute sessions, which was undoubtedly the stronger of the two. But regardless of his luck in the qualifying draw, his fastest time of 1m44.877s was only better than three drivers in the slower Group B and demonstrated just how much he struggled for pace.

"We're going to change quite a few things overnight," said Dolby. "We are quick enough in some places, but it's in the slow-speed stuff is where we are struggling, and I was having to be quite lary on the throttle. When we get it right with the dampers it will be much better.

"We've got more work to do tonight, but racing is racing and these things happen. I've got to treat them both tomorrow like reversed-grid races."

Dolby leads the series by 60 points ahead of nearest rival Yelmer Buurman of AC Milan, who will start fourth on Sunday despite setting the second-fastest time in the semi finals.

"It's just the way the system works," said Buurman, who went head-to-head with poleman Julien Jousse of Roma in his semi. "But I'm happy with the second row, my speed has been good all weekend. It's a shame that the points rewards you for the second race as much as the first, because Craig can target the second race and regain points that I should gain on him in the first."

When asked of what he thought of Dolby's problems, Buurman added: "I've only seen a few replays, but it looked like he had a lot of oversteer. He was wide in some corners...or maybe he was wild!"
