Pirelli British Rally open day

As part of the 'Motorsport in the Midlands' project, series organiser and promoter BRC Licensing and Nuneaton & Bedworth BC will stage a pre-season Pirelli British Rally Championship Live open day on Sunday, March 2. It will be run on and around a 2-mile, mixed-surface special stage near Nuneaton town centre, with facilities for service, trade displays and spectators. Greenlight TV will film the event for a championship preview programme to be shown on Channel 4

The regional development agency for the area, Advantage West Midlands (AWM), is actively supporting this inaugural event to publicise the region's strong industrial and sporting capabilities. Several rally teams and their suppliers are based in the region, and AWM is seeking to grow this cluster.

'Motorsport in the Midlands' is a 10-year strategy to establish the area as a centre for the motorsport industry, and is the result of an initiative originally proposed by NBBC in 1998, when it was seeking original ideas for a different type of event to celebrate the new millennium. The first event under the scheme, the multi-venue Millennium Rally, based in Nuneaton, was held for charity in August 2000.
